Georgia Byng

Georgia Byng is the creator of Molly Moon and the author of Molly Moon’s Incredible Book of Hypnotism; Molly Moon Stops the World; Molly Moon’s Hypnotic Time Travel Adventure; Molly Moon, Micky Minus, & the Mind Machine; and the fifth hypnotic Molly Moon book: Molly Moon & the Morphing Mystery.

Georgia Byng grew up outside Winchester, England, near the river Itchen. The nearby country lane with its many cottages was where Georgia Byng first found out about characters, for it was teeming with them, and she used to interview them.

Georgia Byng now lives in a house in London full of old and new art, as her husband is the conceptual artist Marc Quinn. Marc keeps all sorts of strange things in the fridge—once he had to keep a Canadian frog in there as it was hibernating and had to be kept cold. They and their family—Tiger, Lucas, and Sky—love to travel, and their favorite destination is India.

Lady Georgia Mary Caroline Byng, (b. 1965), is a British author of children’s books and a former actress. Her first writing was for a comic strip, and her first published book was The Sock Monsters. Byng’s best known work is Molly Moon’s Incredible Book of Hypnotism and its sequels, about a girl who finds a book about hypnotism and learns how to hypnotize people. Georgia’s first published item was a comic strip for kids from the age of five to seven.

Georgia Mary Caroline Byng is the elder daughter and second child of the 8th Earl of Strafford and his first wife Jennifer May (now married to businessman Sir Christopher Bland, a former BBC and British Telecom chairman). She was previously married in 1990 (divorced 1995) to Daniel Chadwick, by whom she had a daughter, Tiger Rose, born 1991. She now lives with her second husband, artist Marc Quinn, and her three children, daughter Tiger and sons Sky and Lucas.

Byng is the elder sister of publisher Jamie Byng of Canongate Books.
