What’s new?

November 30, 2011

We have hundreds and hundreds of new books in the library, ready for the Christmas holiday period. Here’s a selection of new books either on shelves or available to reserve now.

You can also click on the RL lists on the left hand side of the online catalogue page (just above the log in box) to see our other lists.

Tararua District Libraries is one library with four branches (Dannevirke, Woodville, Pahiatua, Eketahuna), so even if the item you want is not being held at your local branch, you can still reserve it and it will be sent to your branch for you to collect. And if we don’t have it at all, we can also interloan it from National Library or another NZ library too.

Inheritance:  Eragon – Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider – and his dragon, Saphira, have come farther than anyone dared to imagine. But can they topple the evil king, Galbatorix, and restore justice to Alagaesia? And if so, at what cost?

Devil’s Gate : a Japanese cargo ship cruises the eastern Atlantic near the Azores- when it bursts into flames. A gang of pirates speeds to take advantage of the disaster-when their boat explodes. What is happening in this part of the world? As Kurt Austin, Joe Zavala, and the rest of the NUMA Special Assignments Team rush to investigate, they find themselves drawn into the extraordinary ambitions of an African dictator, the creation of a weapon of almost mythical power, and an unimaginably audacious plan to extort the world’s major nations. The penalty for refusal? The destruction of their greatest cities.

11.22.63: Jake’s friend Al, who runs the local diner, divulges a secret: his storeroom is a portal to 1958. He enlists Jake on an insane—and insanely possible—mission to try to prevent the Kennedy assassination. So begins Jake’s new life as George Amberson and his new world of Elvis and JFK, of big American cars and sock hops, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake’s life—a life that transgresses all the normal rules of time.

Explosive 18: Stephanie’s dream vacation turned into a nightmare, and she is flying back to New Jersey solo. Worse still, her seatmate never returned to the plane after the L.A. layover. Now he is dead, in a garbage can, waiting for curbside pickup. His killer could be anyone. And a ragtag collection of thugs and psychos, not to mention the FBI, are all looking for a photograph the dead man was supposed to be carrying. Only one other person has seen the missing photo,Stephanie Plum. Now she is the target.

The litigators: Finley & Figg: specialists in injury claims, quickie divorces and DUIs. They are about to take on one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the United States. But if they have right on their side, why do they need to carry guns in their briefcases?

The next always: The community of Boonsboro is small but close-knit, and takes enormous pride in the town’s history and architecture. None more so than the Montgomery brothers, who are in the middle of restoring the town’s Inn and obsessed with getting every detail perfect. But Beckett Mongomery, the youngest and an architect, has another obsession – Claire Murphy, a widow recently returned to Boonsboro with her young family. He’s determined to win a date with her – but she’s also caught the eye of another man who has far more sinister ambitions.
