Food for fines!

October 20, 2013

food for finesTararua District Library is having an overdue fines amnesty from Friday 25 October to Friday 1 November 2013.

Canned food collected at each library branch will be donated to local food banks, filling their pantries in time for Christmas.  So how does it work?

EXISTING overdue fines on your library card, will get $5 waived for every can donated. 1 can =$5  (To find out how much you owe, either log in to the online catalogue, ask your local branch or email library@tararuadc.govt.nz)

CHARGED items are not eligible. BUT if you can find the item and return it within this period, the charge will be dropped and you can pay the overdue fine with cans.   But if you’ve not been able to find the lost item, or it’s a damaged item, this amnesty does not apply to you sorry.

So get shopping, or check your pantry!   Cans without dents, rust, and within use by date only please.  And even if you don’t have any fines, donations happily accepted!
