‘Threes a crowd’ by Muriel Cowan

August 14, 2014

THREES A CROWD.

A trio;

Hunch backed

Flat black feathers

Spindly hot chilli pepper legs

Spikey hot chilli pepper beaks

But only a pair pacing in unison

Nodding sagely in sync

The other following

Wary and ever mindful

To stay off side

Part of the Oyster Catcher Whanau

But not part of the pair.

Still they all speak the same

Torere /. Torere/. Torere/.

Alone

Same family same species .

Same place.

Despair.
