Make life easier with our new ebook app AND win a tablet!

January 14, 2015

ebooksDid you know you can download free ebooks from us?  Yep, library members can log into our ebook site or use the new Wheelers ePlatform app to easily download electronic books. Plus, you only have to be online the first time you download the book – after that, you can read it online OR offline!  So if you don’t have internet access at home, come along to a library and use our free wifi to stock up on books, and then read them offline at home.

To promote this app, Wheelers (the ebook supplier) are running a competition until 31 March 2015. Just by borrowing an ebook using the new app, you will go into a monthly draw to win a tablet. One entry per user each month.

Full instructions can be printed from this PDF link, or any librarian can help you:

Tararua District Library – Wheelers ePlatform guide and instructions

Using the app on your mobile device:

  1. In [Android] Google Play or [Apple] App Store, search for Wheelers ePlatform and download it.
  2. Open app and search keyword Tararua. Click on NZLibs (that’s us folks)
  3. Click “Get Started”
  4. Enter your Username and password (e.g. B zero zero etc).  Username is your library membership number and password is what you have already set up for use with library catalogue. (If it does not work, log into the online catalogue http://www.tararuadc.govt.nz/Living_Here/Libraries/Tararua_Library_Catalogue.  Your password may have expired and you can renew it here, or if you’ve forgotten it, you can find it out here.  See guide or contact library for further advice).
  5. Click on a book cover that you like
  6. Click on Borrow Now
  7. Click on Read Now
  8. The book will download and open to the first page.

Passwords
Passwords are set by you. They need to be 7 – 13 characters long and include NO symbols.  If you’ve forgotten it, or do not have one, as long as you have given the library your email address, you can set all this up remotely.  Go to the online catalogue (see #4 above).  Username is your library card number.  Do not enter a password but instead click on “Forgotten your password” underneath – this will email you either the one you have set already, or a random one to get started with.  Check your emails.  Log into the online catalogue using that password – this will show you whether it’s still valid or whether you need to update it – which you can only do here and not within the ebook site or app.  Please ask at your local library if you have any problems. Any staff member should be able to assist.
