The girl who saved the King of Sweden
An intriguing title by Jonas Jonasson, who wrote the “The hundred year old man who climbed out of the window and disappeared” (it’s probably shorter in his native Swedish), which was made into a film of course.
Unless you’re up on Swedish history, you will be as uncertain as I was as to how much is fact and how much fiction in this funny, quirky, what the heck’s going to happen next? novel. Let’s just say it’s about a young African girl, Nombeko Mayeki, who manages to export a nuclear bomb to Sweden and ends up becoming the Swedish Ambassador to South Africa. But just about anything and everything happens on the way. Very entertaining.
