Poetry competition: Requiem

REQUIEM

All the light hearted moments

And the small irritations

The hours spent alone together

Discussing the character of others – gleefully

And then our lives diverged for a short timetracks converging

Like two trains crossing east and west

And you chose this time to go

Without mutual farewell and words of love.

And I was stunned, sad and angry

Because you might have thought I didn’t care

But I did, and I was looking for more time together

But you had none.
